Poker tournament to help East Atlanta seniors

ATLANTA -- The third annual EACA Neighbor in Need Poker Tournament will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Midway Pub.

The tournament costs $50 to enter and will be capped at 50 players. A $500 Visa gift card is at stake.

Net proceeds will benefit Neighbor in Need, which provides no-cost emergency home repairs to local seniors.

ATLANTA -- Come out and join your neighbors on Saturday, Aug. 11 for the East Atlanta Strut scavenger hunt.

The fun begins at 1 p.m. at the Midway Pub. Registration starts at 12 p.m.

Several prizes are at stake, including cupcakes, beer, an ice cream special named after the winning team and more.

East Atlanta Community Association meeting Tuesday

ATLANTA -- The East Atlanta Community Association will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The meeting will be held at Branan Towers. This month's agenda includes a discussion about the planned fitness trail for Brownwood Park.

Branan Towers is located at 1200 Glenwood Avenue.

ATLANTA -- Fireworks are the pièce de résistance for any Independence Day celebration. Find out where you can see them in Atlanta this Fourth of July.

Legendary 4th of July at Lenox Square
The largest fireworks display in the Southeast returns to Lenox Square in Buckhead this year. The fun begins at 10 a.m., when the mall itself opens. 'B at the Movies' this summer

ATLANTA -- Looking for some free family fun this summer?

ALDI and radio station B98.5 will present the "B at the Movies" outdoor movie series at several locations throughout metro Atlanta all summer long.

Everyone is invited to bring their blankets and chairs to the participating parks and watch the family-friendly movies on giant inflatable screens. Movies begin at dusk, but come out early for activities and giveaways.

ATLANTA -- It's back! Starbucks' wildly popular Frappuccino Happy Hour event will return this Friday, May 4.

The coffeehouse chain will hold Frappuccino Happy Hour every day through Sunday, May 13, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. All sizes of the Frappuccino frozen drinks are half-price during Happy Hour.

Starbucks has brought back its two coconut drinks -- the Mocha Coconut Frappuccino and the Coconut Crème Frappuccino -- for summer. It also debuted two brand new flavors on Tuesday.

The Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino is "an indulgent blend of rich mocha sauce, vanilla syrup, Frappuccino chips, our signature Frappuccino Roast coffee and milk blended with ice and topped with delicious chocolatey whipped cream and chocolate cookie crumbles."
